PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN-(13-4-2003) Followig completion of registration and measurement, all classes are ready to start racing tomorrow. The start, scheduled at 11.00 hours, will have 777 boats representing 40 nations. For the first time, the dinghy sailing event will be held over five days of racing which will undoubtedly enable a top level competition. Among the over 1,200 sailors registered we have Olympic medallists as well as World and European Champions. The regatta is also a qualifying event for many national teams towards the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Once the registration deadline has been reached, the number of entries are as follows:

Yngling: 27
Tornado: 54
Star: 24
Mistral W: 40
Mistral M: 89
Laser: 79
Finn: 62
Europe W: 120
49er: 58
470W: 37
470M: 66
Dragon: 40
Europe M: 67

In the Europe men and women, Mistral men, Laser, 49er and 470 men the fleet has been divided in groups that will race qualifying series during the first three days and final series over the last two days. The reamining classes, in which we also have a numerous participation, will sail fleet races during the five days of competition.

Weather conditions have been excellent today with E-SE winds, 15-18 knots and 24 degrees. The weather forecast for tomorrow announces E-SE winds, 20-25 knots in the morning decreasing in the afternoon with possibility of rain. Races are scheduled to start tomorrow at 11.00 hrs and 2 to 3 races are scheduled every day.

The best sailors of each class will compete in the 34th edition giving great expectation and competition towards the obtention of the absolute winner title.
